CHRIS TIERNAN
Chris Tiernan has been coaching for 27 years. He first started as an assistant coach with the Fair Lawn Junior wrestling program, where he grew up. Around 2000, he took over the program as the head coach and started building a powerhouse team in the Twin County Wrestling League and the USAWNJ.
In 2006, he decided to open his own wrestling club, Celtic Wrestling, becoming one of the well-known clubs in North Jersey with over 80 members from youth to high school. There he coached many district, regional and state place winners. While still having his own club, Tiernan joined the coaching staff for Don Bosco under head coach Chris Bitetto. He helped coach the Ironmen team to be one of the best in the state.
During that time, Tiernan also helped coach and cornered Don Bosco heavyweight Eric Chakonis to his first NJISSA State Championship title.
In 2019, he joined the Bitetto Trained staff. He is also an assistant coach at Saint Mary High School in East Rutherford.
